Fires & barbecues

On Friday evening, Police officers attended Wye Downs following reports of a camp fire being lit within the countryside area.

Kent Police and the Parish Council would like to remind visitors that lighting fires and barbecues in the Kent Downs is prohibited. The Kent Downs National Landscape asks all visitors to follow the Countryside Code to help protect the environment, wildlife and surrounding habitats. The guidance specifically states: Don't light fires or barbecues.

As we continue through the warmer months, even small fires can pose a significant risk of causing grass, woodland or wildlife fires, particularly during dry conditions.
