Doreen Titmuss (Vice-Chairman)
I was born and raised in East London where I lived for most of my life. I have lived in Ashford with my husband since November 2017 after moving from London. We are, as our neighbour once described us ‘DFLs’(Down from London)!
I retired from the Metropolitan Police in 2010 after serving for 30 years my last posting being to The Palace of Westminster. My career within the Police was very varied and I was trained as a Family Liaison Officer, a Metropolitan Police Advanced Driver and enjoyed every moment of my service
After I retired from the Police I was a House Manager for a sheltered housing complex and very much enjoyed helping my residents. I hope to do the same for the residents of Goat Lees.
I am the secretary of Ashford Sinfonia and enjoy playing my cello in the orchestra. I am a keen gardener and I also knit.
I have a genuine concern for the environment in which I live.
I don’t think you should complain unless you are prepared to do something about it which prompted me to apply to join the Parish Council and I am grateful for this opportunity.
I have no preconceived ideas about Ashford as a town as I have not been here long and so hope to bring fresh eyes to problems old and new.
Doreen was co opted in October 2020.
Member of the Finance & Planning Committees.
Jenny Li
I have lived in the East Kent area for 19 years and in the Parish for over 12 years after relocating for work from Hertfordshire. I have a BA(Honours) degree in Business Studies and a Masters in HR Management. As a Senior HR Practitioner for various NHS Hospitals and London Boroughs I have experience of effecting change in bureaucratic organisations using strong negotiating skills and building trust with all employees. My talent for getting people to work together and see different points of views has been imperative for my role within employee relations.
I was proud to be involved with the successful village project to bring fibre broadband to the Boughton Lees area. I have a passion for volunteering with organisations for example St John Ambulance, local schools and at village events. Healthcare provision and the future of East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust is a special interest of mine and after attending the consultation meetings I drafted briefing papers for interested parties.
I enjoy walking, gardening and growing a lot of our own fruit and vegetables.
Member of the Finance Committee and Highway Improvement Plan working group.
Adrian Coles
I was born and raised in Ashford and have lived in Boughton Lees since 1995. I have been a Kent County Council Volunteer Countryside Access Warden for many years, surveying and maintaining the local Public Rights of Way. I was also part of the team that produced the Parish Design Statement. I previously worked at the Channel Tunnel and am now a Maintenance Manager on the High Speed Rail link. My wife and I love where we live and I have joined the Parish Council to try and preserve what we have and improve our environment and facilities where we can.
Member of the Parish Council since March 2018.
Lead member for the KCC Highways Improvement Plan working group.
Jane Hall
I was born in Ashford and descended from family who have connections to the area that can be traced back over many generations. I have lived in the Parish for 32 years and have two adult children who grew up in the Parish. I have two grandchildren who have added a real sparkle to my life. I hold a Masters degree in Biological sciences (MSc distinction) and I am passionate about protecting our natural and cultural environment. I have a wide variety of interests across the arts and sciences and have travelled widely. I have been involved in overseas educational charity initiatives as well as local ones.
I have worked in education throughout my career, both internationally and in the UK, retiring in 2014. After retiring I became an advisor for CAB, a role which enhanced my understanding of the problems facing people living in an ever-expanding Ashford. I was a key member of the Steering group that produced the Neighbourhood Plan, this gave me a detailed understanding of the concerns faced by Parish residents. I am currently a governor for the Goat Lees primary school, this has given me an insight into the issues facing families living on the Goat Lees estate.
My husband and I enjoy living here and are active members of the community. I joined the Parish council to try to help balance the needs of parish residents with the demands of development in the Ashford area, whilst trying to protect our cultural and natural environments.
