Here are the latest updates regarding the progress of works on the Faversham Road. You can check for updates on the SGN website.

Update - Monday 16 September

Last week, we completed all engineering work on the closed section of the A251 towards its junction with Dayton Road. We're now carrying out resurfacing work to reinstate the areas we've disturbed within this section, and we'll be able to reopen this section of road to through motorists when this process has been completed.

At the other end of the A251, near its junction with the M2, our engineers are continuing replacing our old pipes under two-way temporary traffic lights. We're hopeful of being able to safely remove these lights by Sunday 29 September, despite the difficulties of lifting and resetting several large concrete kerbstones enabling us to carry out our network upgrades in this section.

Update - Tuesday 10 September

We're making great progress on our network upgrade project and our work remains on schedule to be completed by Friday 27 September.

Last week we laid approximately 700m of new plastic pipe and we're now working to reinstate the areas we've disturbed heading towards Faversham. This should make resident and school traffic access to and from Faversham a little easier.

Our engineers will now split into two teams. One team will continue working towards Dayton Road, while the rest of our engineers will be carrying out the remaining work close to the junction with the M2. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation near the M2 junction for safety while we upgrade our network here.

To help minimise future disruption, we're taking the opportunity to work collaboratively with tree surgeons, South East Water and Swale Council while our closure is in place. By enabling these organisations to carry out required work inside our closure now avoids them returning in the future and closing affected roads again.
